Chanel Accessories

Karl's Spring show for Chanel was a little less-nutty and more Chanel-y, so I won't bother with it here. However, some accessories caught my eye, particularly these architectural necklaces made from slabs of agate.

These large enamelled neckpieces are also interesting, even if the second one looks like all of my grandma's brooches glued together.

And this leather replica of a Chanel paper sack is a-dor-a-ble! Wonder if anyone will be knocking it off? Canal Street - do you hear me?

Buying knock-offs on Canal Street ain't what it used to be. A few years ago the police started arresting counterfeiters (and seizing their merchandise) - so nothing with a fake logo is displayed on the street. The bags are similar, but not exact replicas.

What you have to do now is find one of the many ladies standing on corners, usually reciting mantras like "bags bags bags!" or "Chanel Gucci bags Chanel Gucci bags!". If a cop walks by, they shut up.

These women will literally take you to various warehouse around Chinatown (usually up steps or elevators and behind locked doors) for the "real" knockoffs. And even those get busted periodically.

What is this world coming too when you can't buy a "real" fake Chanel bag right on Canal street?!?
